City centres can be a black hole for good food, with chains sucking up prime real estate and rents rising too sharply for independents. So let’s be grateful to Cardiff Market for some homegrown favourites. We’d recommend a spot on the balcony where you’ll find some of the city’s best pizza in Ffwrnes: the vibrant Southern Indian menu from Anand George’s Tukka Tuk (also in Goodsheds), the so-fresh-they’re-made-in-front-of-you Pierogi, the cheesy, carby heft of Dirty Gnocchi, Tokyo Nights’ gyoza and hirata or the bargains from Thai Asian Delish.
