Manchester has done well for itself on the posh tapas front, with two entries for Spanish cuisine in the Michelin guide and on the same street no less! If you’re a City fan you may wish to go to Pep Guardiola’s restaurant Tast Catala down the road, but if your primary concern is the panache of your prawns and the crunch on your croquetas then we would argue El Gato Negro is better. It’s a handsome three floors of solidly good tapas and a lovely place to take someone for a special something or other.
