Playful cooking that takes the norms of Caribbean cuisine and applies its own Brummie rules, Mellows is proof that just about anything can be jerked. Not just chicken, but prawns, lamb, jackfruit and others. Don’t ask us which one is best, we’re traditionalists when it comes to the application of allspice and scotch bonnets. And it doesn’t stop there, the menu runs across the Caribbean drawing on lesser known dishes to fill in the gaps. We hate the term hidden gem, but this place really is.
