Barney Says
A quick history lesson – Manchester is the home of ‘rice and three’, a fairly self-explanatory concept of serving rice and three curries in a sort of school-canteen style for an unbeatably good price. Rice and three came about as a response to warehouse workers’ demands for a quick and cheap lunch on their breaks from the nearby textile workshops in the Northern Quarter, about 30 years ago. That’s the history, and This n That is the future. Or at least we hope so, because it’s such a charming little place that a future without it simply isn’t worth having. It’s probably not the best curry you’ll ever have and don’t take anyone who’s expecting tablecloths and napkins. But a bad day at work, feet tired from shopping, homesick uni student? This n That’ll sort it.
